Ukraine's govt transfers UAH 12.7 bln provided by Canada to Naftogaz for purchase of gas for storing in UGS facilities – PM

KYIV. Nov 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has handed over UAH 12.7 billion provided by Canada for the purchase of gas to underground gas storage (UGS) facilities to NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said.

"The government transferred UAH 12.7 billion to Naftogaz for the purchase of gas to store in Ukrainian gas storage facilities. Earlier, Ukraine received this finance from the government of Canada. At today’s meeting, the procedure for using state budget funds for gas purchases in 2022-2023 was approved," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Shmyhal also recalled that this week Norway provided almost EUR 200 million to Ukraine for gas purchases. Even earlier, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) agreed to provide EUR 300 million for these needs to Naftogaz.

"This is a very important part of preparing to get through difficult winter steadily," the Prime Minister of Ukraine said.
