Biden expresses hope for continued assistance to Ukraine after Republicans' victory in Congress

KYIV. Nov 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – U.S. President Joe Biden expressed hope that U.S. assistance to Ukraine will continue after the Republicans win a majority following the results of the midterm elections.

“And there’s no time — this is no time to walk away from Ukraine,” he said.

“Now, we had a lot of talk in this last election about whether the other team is going to continue to support Ukraine, and I still believe there’s enough support there that we can continue,” Biden added.

Earlier it was reported that, according to forecasts of CNN and NBC, the Republicans won the elections to the U.S. House of Representatives. They get 218 seats – the minimum required to secure a majority. The Democrats have 208 seats. In total, there are 435 seats in the chamber, therefore, the holders of nine seats in the lower house of Congress have not yet been determined.
