Zelensky considers fair price for Russian oil of $30-40 in region

KYIV. Nov 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky considers it fair to limit prices for Russian oil in the region of $30-40.

"The limit that is being considered today – about $60 – I think this is an artificial limit. This is our position… Unfortunately, not all countries are hurting so much with us, but we are doing this work. Surely, in any case, any restriction is already a signal that the countries will move on. But we would like the sanctions to be very effective in this fight. So that the limit is at the level of $30-40, so that Russia can feel them," Zelensky said at a press conference following the first Grain from Ukraine summit in Kyiv.

He also expressed confidence that the decision to limit prices for Russian oil would be taken without fail, but it is necessary that the sanctions work really.

"We believe that there will be restrictions [of oil prices from the Russian Federation]. We understand this. We will all press in, they will be. But the question of doing this is not for the sake of saying: we have done it. It is very important that the sanctions are effective," he said.

According to the President, currently there are EU and U.S. sanctions against the Russian Federation, at the same time, there are sanctions that Russia manages to bypass, which should not be.

"I would very much like the sanctions that relate to limiting the price of oil could not be bypassed, and that they would work not politically, but in reality. And then Russia did not use these billions – and the question of tens of billions will be the profits of the Russian Federation on oil – so that it does not use these tens of billions against Ukraine. And it will use them precisely against Ukraine. Because, as they say in Russian: "Strength is not enough," Zelensky said.

At the same time, the head of state especially thanked Poland and Lithuania for their position regarding the strict limitation of marginal prices for Russian energy.
