Ukraine asks U.S. to help with gas – Naftogaz head

KYIV. Nov 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Chairman of the board of Naftogaz Oleksiy Chernyshov has asked the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for help regarding additional gas volumes for the heating season.

"Continuing cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in a new role – I met with Erin McKee, the head of USAID in Europe and Asia. The key issue is the additional amount of gas needed to get through this heating season!" the head of the company wrote on Facebook.

According to him, the issue of operational assistance in the form of materials and equipment was discussed, which the agency is currently working on providing to Ukraine.

"We are talking, in particular, about methanol, gas compressors, diesel generators and gas production equipment," Chernyshov specified.

The head of Naftogaz also told the ambassador about the latest Russian missile strikes: the destruction of Ukraine’s civilian energy infrastructure, the damage done and our needs.

Chernyshov emphasized that he had noted his priorities, namely renewing the confidence of our foreign partners and eurobond holders in Naftogaz, reforming the company’s corporate governance, and transparently appointing a new supervisory board.
