SBU searches Moscow Patriarchate monastery in Zakarpattia region, seizes anti-Ukrainian propaganda materials

KYIV. Dec 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has completed counter-intelligence activities in the territory of Saint Cyril and Methodius Women’s Monastery of Mukachevo eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Zakarpattia region, it said on the Telegram channel on Thursday.

More than 20 people underwent in-depth counter-intelligence interviews, including with the use of the lie detector, the SBU said.

"SBU officers found a large number of agitation and propaganda materials. Most of the literature was written by Russian activists and printed by Russian publishing houses," it said.

The seized materials include xenophobic books with offensive fiction about other nations and religions. Some of the discovered brochures deny the right of Ukraine to independence and say that Russia, Ukraine and Belarus "must not be separated."

All materials will be sent for relevant expertise, the SBU said.
