By KYIV. Dec 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, as the legitimately elected leader of Ukraine, must determine for himself what exactly a victory over the Russian Federation will mean, U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink has said.
“As President Biden said, the U.S. government, we believe that President Zelensky, the elected leader of Ukraine, should determine when there will be a victory, and what it will mean. He defined, and the G7 approved the basic principles, namely respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty. He also talked about the importance of accountability for war crimes and atrocities," Brink said at the Kyiv Security Forum hosted by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation in Kyiv on Thursday.
She added that she had traveled around Ukraine and had the opportunity to see the barbaric actions that took place in Ukraine.
"The criminals must be held accountable. I, my government are very committed to this," the ambassador said.
She also assured that the United States and the world are committed to helping Ukraine recover.
The U.S. Ambassador indicated that she was completely confident that Ukraine would defeat the Russian Federation.
"I am absolutely, 100% sure that Ukraine will win. I have absolutely no doubt. I had no doubts before I arrived, and I have even less doubts after the time that I spent here for six months," Brink noted.
