Sanction proposals against almost 2,000 Russian propagandists, cultural figures, media outlets to be submitted for consideration by NSDC

KYIV. Dec 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The interdepartmental working group on the state sanctions policy recommended that a package of proposals be submitted for consideration by the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) regarding the imposition of sanctions against propagandists, cultural and art figures from Russia.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy, the corresponding decision was made at a meeting chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko on Friday.

"Actors, artists, journalists, athletes, and bloggers. These are people who should be moral authorities. Who should prevent a war of conquest. At the same time, they chose serving the terrorist regime instead of serving the ideals of humanity. Their crime is no less than the crimes of those who kill peaceful Ukrainians today. War propaganda must be punished, and I am convinced that the time will come when these people will be brought to justice. We assess their actions by imposing sanctions," Svyrydenko said.

It is noted that the package recommended by the interdepartmental working group for submission to the National Security and Defense Council included about 2,000 individuals and legal entities.

"Among them are about 1,600 individuals – propagandists, pop artists, cultural figures, and athletes. The rest are legal entities, such as television and radio companies, publishing houses, etc. Also on the list: museums, galleries, and publishing houses from the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea," the ministry said.

They add that the Interdepartmental Working Group has also worked out mechanisms for strengthening coordination and cooperation with the relevant authorities of Ukraine’s partner countries in matters of sanctions policy.
