Dec 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Zaporizhia nuclear power plant should come under the control of Energoatom state enterprise, there should not be strangers at the plant, Serhiy Nikiforov, the press secretary of the president of Ukraine, told Interfax-Ukraine, commenting on the position of the president on this issue.
"The position (of the president of Ukraine) on ZNPP is unchanged. The station should be under the control of Ukraine, and it should be completely demilitarized. This is what we proceed from," Nikiforov said.
Asked about what exactly is meant by demilitarization, he noted that "the station should be connected to the Ukrainian network, it should be under the control of Energoatom, and there should not be unauthorized persons there."
According to Nikiforov, other conditions may be subject to discussion with the IAEA.
As reported, the IAEA Board of Governors in November adopted a resolution urging Russia to withdraw its military from ZNPP and "cease all activities" at Ukrainian nuclear facilities.
