Ukraine, Moldova expect to sign agreement on construction of road bridge across Dniester River at border by mid-2023 – PM

KYIV. Dec 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine and Moldova expect to sign an agreement on the construction of a road bridge across the Dniester River at the common border by the middle of 2023, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has said.

"Constant communication between Moldova and Ukraine at the highest state level makes us stronger," Shmyhal said at a joint press conference with Moldovan Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița on Tuesday.

According to him, at the meeting, the parties reached a number of agreements, in particular: on the continuation of the removal of administrative and procedural barriers for the freer movement of people and goods across the border; on stepping up the dialogue in the Ukraine-Moldova-Romania triangle, for which a meeting of the heads of governments of the three countries will be held in 2023; on the establishment of a bilateral working group to coordinate the integration of Ukraine and Moldova into the EU.

"We expect to sign an agreement on the construction of a road bridge across the Dniester River at the common border by the middle of 2023. This will expand our joint logistics capabilities," Shmyhal said.

In addition, the parties agreed to cooperate in matters of air defense, improving border control, as well as ensuring the broadcast of the Edyni Novyny telethon on Moldovan television.

Also, according to Shmyhal, 2023 will be the year of Ukrainian culture in Moldova.
