KHARKIV. Dec 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A 5.5-meter-high Christmas tree has been put up at the Universytet subway station in Kharkiv on Wednesday, the mayor of the city, Ihor Terekhov, said.
"The war continues and it is inappropriate to put up a Christmas tree on Freedom Square as we always used to do. That is why we have put it up in the subway. It is safe," he said on air of the national telethon.
Free festive parties and concerts for children will be held in the subway as well, the mayor said.
