USA vests right in Germany to independently decide which weapons Berlin wants to supply to Ukraine – media

KYIV. Dec 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The United States reserves the right for Germany to independently make a decision on what kind of weapons Berlin wants to supply to the Ukrainian army, the German edition of Frankfurter Algemeine Zeitung reports, citing press secretary of the U.S. National Security Council Andrienne Watson.

The publication quotes Watson’s words saying that they leave it to the Germans and do not appeal to them with any requests with which he reacted to an earlier publication of the ezine, in which it was said that President Biden’s security adviser Jake Sullivan allegedly called on Germany to supply Leopard 2 combat tanks to Ukraine.

It is clarified that the United States highly appreciates the assistance already provided by Germany to Ukraine, which includes rocket artillery, air defense systems and ammunition.

According to the publication, Sullivan’s call for the transfer of German tanks to the Ukrainian army was made during his telephone conversation with the German Chancellor’s foreign policy adviser Jens Pletner in October.
