Commissioned Kherson CHPP provides heat to 60% of its consumers – Naftogaz

KYIV. Dec 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Sixty percent of consumers who in de-occupied Kherson receive heat from the local combined heat and power plant (CHPP) are already provided with it, Naftogaz Ukrainy reported.

According to the company’s website posting on Thursday, the city’s utilities continue to repair networks to supply heating to other homes.

"Despite the shelling and constant interruptions in electricity supply, specialists with titanic efforts return heat to de-occupied Kherson. All of them daily risk their lives and health, because energy infrastructure facilities are under the enemy’s special eye. Understanding the scale of destruction of networks and the general situation in the city, I can say: this is a heroic work. Thanks to all the specialists, in particular the employees of Naftogaz Teplo, who today are bringing life back to the liberated city. Your contribution is very important," Oleksiy Chernyshov, Board Chairman of Naftogaz, is quoted in the release.

He also thanked the Kherson regional military administration for facilitating the process of launching the coolant.

As DTEK Executive Director Dmytro Sakharuk reported, as of December 7, about 30 settlements of Kherson region were already powered, not counting the regional center connected last week. The Kherson combined heat and power plant has started operating, and supply of electricity to Beryslav and nearby areas is expected in the near future.
