By KYIV. Dec 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Head of the President’s Office of Ukraine Andriy Yermak hopes for the Pope’s support for Ukraine on the path to peace
"Pope Francis has such a powerful weapon as the faith of the laity and the word of God, and our country needs it very much. We hope he will support Ukraine on the way to a just peace," the president’s press service said, citing Yermak at the meeting with journalists.
The President’s Office head called strong the recent statements of the Pope about the Ukrainian people, who suffer from the brutality of the invading troops. It is noted that the pontiff explicitly stated that the attacker is the Russian state.
Yermak also noted the contribution that Pope Francis can make in ending the unjust war that Russia started.
