Poroshenko in USA calls for long-range weapons to be given to AFU

KYIV. Dec 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Fifth President of Ukraine, MP Petro Poroshenko, during his trip to Washington, on CNN, called on the United States to give Ukraine long-range weapons to destroy warehouses and command centers of the army of the aggressor country.

"I would like all Americans to understand that supplying us with artillery, longer-range multiple launch rocket systems is not a matter of a possible strike on Russian territory. We are not doing this. It is a matter of trust. If we have this trust now, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have confidence from America, we need these long-range artillery missiles. We can destroy Russian ammunition depots, Russian command posts, and this will help us protect Ukraine, and, accordingly, this will help us protect Europe," Poroshenko said, cited by the European Solidarity party’s press service.

Poroshenko also said Ukraine needs air defense and fighter jets to protect civilian critical infrastructure.

"Supplying us energy equipment plus air defense could be a game changer and stop Putin from attacking critical energy infrastructure. At the same time, we need more weapons, we need jet fighters. They are needed in order to intercept air supremacy and cover Ukrainian troops from Russian attacks," the politician said.
