IAEA to send technical missions to all nuclear power plants in Ukraine in near future – Shmyhal

KYIV. Dec 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal says that the IAEA will send permanent technical missions to all nuclear power plants in Ukraine in the near future.

"The demilitarization of Zaporizhia nuclear power plant is point number 1 of the peace plan of President Volodymyr Zelensky. This issue was discussed with the head of the IAEA during a meeting in Paris. Rafael Grossi said that in the near future the IAEA would send technical permanent missions to all nuclear power plants in Ukraine. Independent experts of the organization will work at Zaporizhia, Rivne, Khmelnytsky, Yuzhnoukrainsk, as well as at Chornobyl nuclear power plants. This will significantly increase technical and technological safety," Shmyhal said on Telegram.

According to him, the purpose of the mission is to ensure the safety of the stations and record all possible attempts of external influences, including shelling by the Russian aggressor.

"We discussed the steps necessary for the demilitarization of Zaporizhia nuclear power plant. He stressed that it is necessary to stop Russia’s illegal actions against the Ukrainian plant as soon as possible," the prime minister wrote.
