Italy to further help Ukraine in defense – PM

KYIV. Dec 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Italy does not intend to give up military support to Ukraine in the current situation, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni told Italian deputies.

The possibility of a cease-fire seems very limited, and while we support efforts in that direction in the meantime we need to continue to fully support Ukraine," Bloomberg said, citing her.

She said the current batch of military aid to Ukraine should be delivered to its destination by the end of 2022. At the same time, the Italian authorities do not disclose information about what exactly they are sending to Kyiv.

In turn, Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto said on Tuesday that information about new military supplies from Rome to Ukraine will also remain classified.

In early November, Western media reported, citing an Italian government official, that as part of a new military aid package, Rome could send various air defense systems to Ukraine, including the Franco-Italian SAMP/T anti-aircraft missile systems, the Italian Aspide medium-range anti-aircraft missiles and man-portable air defense systems.

Italy first handed over weapons to Kyiv at the end of February. Since then, Rome has not disclosed the details of the deliveries, however, according to some information, it was, among other things, MLRS universal launchers, German-made PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts and armored vehicles.
