Since start of war, 13.5 mln Ukrainians receive humanitarian aid from intl organizations – ministry

KYIV. Dec 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ministry for the Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories says international humanitarian organizations have provided assistance to 13.5 million citizens across Ukraine since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

"In particular, some 2.4 million people were provided with shelter and basic necessities. Approximately 630,000 people received clothes, heating appliances and other goods necessary for preparing for winter. Water and hygiene items were provided to 6.9 million citizens; food to 8.9 million; medical services to 8.9 million people, cash assistance to 4.3 million people. Such data were published by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA)," the ministry’s press service said.

It is noted that UNHCR, UNICEF, IOM, WFP, OCHA, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Red Cross Society of Ukraine have joined most actively in support of the Ukrainians.

"Ukraine is facing challenges of an unprecedented scale. This has never been seen before. This is not only a war at the frontline, millions of civilians had to leave their homes. This is an energy and infrastructure war on the threshold of winter. We vitally need the total support of international partners. This is a common struggle of the civilized world against darkness. Almost every third Ukrainian received help. Thank you for this. We will only stand together," the ministry’s press service said, citing Iryna Vereschuk, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories.
