By KYIV. Dec 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Law enforcement officers exposed the activities of an Odesa provider that provided access to propaganda channels of the Russian Federation, the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) reports.
"During the procedural management of the Prosecutor General’s Office, Odesa provider was exposed, which provided unhindered access to the broadcast of propaganda TV channels and Internet resources of the Russian Federation and the so-called ‘LPR/DPR’," the Prosecutor General’s Office said in a statement on the agency’s website on Thursday.
According to the prosecutor’s office, despite the NSDC ban, the provider did not block the content of the aggressor state.
"Its employees set up the equipment in such a way that users could freely access television, Internet resources of the Russian Federation and temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. The connection service cost UAH 3,000 and UAH 250 monthly subscription fee," the message says.
The department notes that the company has been participating in public procurement for the provision of services for state institutions and military units of Odesa region since 2016 to the present.
"As part of the investigation, law enforcement officers conducted searches in the office of the enterprise and at the locations of the equipment. Telecommunication devices were seized and traffic was recorded. Also, during the search, a device was found that could provide wireless data exchange with the Pridnestrovian Republic," the prosecutor’s office informs.
The pretrial investigation into the facts of encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine and collaboration activities is carried out by the investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine with the operational support of employees of the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine and the SBU (Article 27, Part 2 of Article 110).
