Podoliak: Removal by State Duma of responsibility for crimes ‘in interests of Russia’ in Ukraine’s occupied territories is legalization of looting, rape and murder

KYIV. Dec 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The removal of responsibility by the State Duma of the Russian Federation for crimes committed in the occupied territories of Ukraine "in the interests of Russia" is the actual legalization of looting, rape and murder as the main tools of the Russian state, said Mykhailo Podoliak, adviser to the head of the President’s Office.

“The responsibility absolve by RF State Duma from crimes on occupied territories that were committed "in the interests of Russia" — factual legalization of looting, rape and murder as main tools of ru-state. Do you understand now why the international Special Tribunal is needed?” Podoliak said on Twitter.

On December 13, State Duma deputies at a regular meeting approved at the first reading a bill abolishing criminal liability for the actions of the Russian army in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine if they were committed in order to "protect the interests" of Russia.

In particular, it is about actions committed in the temporarily occupied territories of Donbas, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions before September 30, 2022 [annexation of these territories by Russia].
