Borrell on Russian missile strikes on Ukraine: Kremlin terror, war crime and barbarism

BRUSSELS. Dec 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In connection with the latest Russian missile attacks on Ukrainian territory, Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign and Security Policy, issued a statement calling them "Kremlin terror, war crime and barbarism."

The text of a statement was distributed on Friday in Brussels by the EU External Diplomatic Service. "Today’s massive missiles attacks by Russia across Ukraine, in addition to the ongoing daily shelling of civilians and civilian infrastructure, are yet another example of the Kremlin’s indiscriminate terror. These cruel, inhumane attacks aim to increase human suffering and deprive Ukrainian people, but also hospitals, emergency services and other critical services of electricity, heating and water. These bombings constitute war crimes and are barbaric. All those responsible shall be held accountable," Borrell said.

"The EU and its partners are further intensifying efforts to provide the emergency support that the Ukrainian people need to restore and maintain power and heating. The Ukrainian people are demonstrating admirable strength, courage, and resilience withstanding Russia’s war of aggression. The European Union stands with them in firm solidarity. As long as needed and to the extent needed," he said.
