Since start of war, Akhmetov's SCM donates UAH 4.1 bln to support Armed Forces of Ukraine, humanitarian programs

KYIV. Dec 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Rinat Akhmetov’s SCM enterprises, his charitable foundation and FC Shakhtar have donated UAH 4.1 billion to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, other defense forces and war-affected compatriots since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, according to a press release of the SCM.

"Providing the Ukrainian Defense Forces with ammunition, vehicles and equipment, humanitarian aid to civilians, supporting the operation of critical infrastructure in the face of Russian shelling are priority goals for Rinat Akhmetov’s businesses and projects," the SCM said.

Assistance to the defenders of Ukraine is provided, first of all, within the framework of the military project Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front. "Thanks to the initiative, law enforcement units receive ammunition, cars, drones, special technical equipment (thermal imagers, rangefinders, cameras, etc.), fortifications, clothing and footwear, first-aid kits and turnstiles, walkie-talkies, fuel and other things and accessories they need. The total amount of military aid has already reached hundreds of thousands of units.

In the face of the onset of cold weather and problems with power supply, hundreds of stoves, charging stations and generators have recently arrived to the front line fighters. "Also, Rinat Akhmetov’s businesses support the functioning of the country’s critical infrastructure, in particular, energy and telecommunications. DTEK’s power engineers are doing everything possible to promptly return electricity after Russian terrorist attacks on energy enterprises, restore it in de-occupied regions. Since February 24, they have returned electricity already in 5.8 million families," the company said.

Thanks to the specialists of Ukrtelecom, telecom services are available in 87% of the settlements of Ukraine covered by the company’s network (except for Luhansk and partly Kherson regions).

The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation donated hundreds of thousands of medicines and tens of thousands of blood containers to the people of Ukraine.

Akhmetov himself, the company said, has been in Ukraine since the first day of the war and does not plan to travel abroad until the victory of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Its enterprises have been transferred to a military mode of operation, providing the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the defense forces with armor, body armor and steel structures.
