EU countries agree on gas price cap of EUR 180 per MWh

BRUSSELS. Dec 19 (Interfax) – The European Union countries have reached an agreement to impose a gas price cap of EUR 180 per MWh, the Polish Permanent Representation to the EU said on Monday.

"We welcome the agreement of EU ministers on a gas price cap of EUR 180/MWh and which includes a cap on all European hubs," the Polish Permanent Representation said in a statement published on Twitter.

The cap is expected to work as part of the European gas market adjustment mechanism. The cap refers to the price at which the correction mechanism is engaged. The ministers were to set this maximum price.
