Zelensky: Russia waging war as Kremlin unable to admit mistakes, recognize reality

KYIV. Dec 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Russia is waging war in Ukraine because some bunch in the Kremlin is unable to admit mistakes and is afraid of reality, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video statement on Monday.

"Bakhmut remains the hottest point on the entire frontline, more than 1,300 kilometers of active hostilities. Since May, the occupiers have been trying to break our Bakhmut, but time is running out, and Bakhmut is breaking not only the Russian army, but also Russian mercenaries who came to replace the lost army of the occupiers," he also said.

"Just think about it: Russia has already lost about 99,000 of its soldiers in Ukraine. One of these days there will be 100,000 losses of the invaders. For what? No one in Moscow has an answer. And it won’t. They are waging war and wasting people’s lives – other people, not their loved ones, not their own lives, but others – and only because some bunch in the Kremlin does not know how to admit mistakes and is terribly afraid of reality," the president believes.

But, he said, reality speaks for itself. "I thank all our fighters who heroically hold Bakhmut direction, Soledar, Avdiyivka, Maryinka, Kremianka directions and the entire Donbas, a region that before the arrival of Russia was one of the strongest in Ukraine and which Russia is destroying right to scorched earth. Even such cruelty will not give anything to the enemy," Zelensky said.
