Ukraine never interfered, does not plan to interfere in Georgia's internal affairs – Ukrainian MFA on statement: Saakashvili's visit is 'special operation to drag Tbilisi into war'

KYIV. Dec 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine has never interfered and does not plan to interfere in the internal affairs of Georgia and is deeply disappointed that the Georgian authorities are speculating on the topic of war in Ukraine in order to achieve their narrow domestic political goals, Spokesman for the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oleh Nikolenko said.

"The head of the ruling party of Georgia said that the arrival of Mikheil Saakashvili was a special operation of Ukraine to drag Tbilisi into the war. What kind of insinuations will individual Georgian politicians spread in order to absolve themselves of responsibility for gross violations of human rights in Georgia," Nikolenko said on Facebook.

The Foreign Ministry said Ukraine has never interfered and does not plan to interfere in the internal affairs of Georgia.

"At the same time, we are deeply disappointed that the Georgian authorities are speculating on the topic of the war in Ukraine in order to achieve their narrow domestic political goals. We renew the call to provide access to Mikheil Saakashvili to Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets," the speaker said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine urged to provide a Ukrainian citizen with medical care and satisfy a request to defer his punishment for transfer to one of the Ukrainian, Western European or American clinics for further treatment.
