Ukraine's Interior Ministry: Croatia to allocate almost EUR 3 mln for purchase of demining machines

KYIV. Dec 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Croatia plans to allocate almost EUR 3 million for the purchase of machines for demining de-occupied territories for Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine said on its website.

According to the Interior Ministry, this was discussed at the meeting of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Mary Hakobyan with Ambassador of Croatia to Ukraine Anica Djamic.

"We are grateful for the resolute and consistent not only political solidarity of the Republic of Croatia with our state, but also military-technical and humanitarian support. Special thanks to your country for the asylum and care that we managed to provide for Ukrainian citizens who were forced to leave the territory of their native state. We know that Croatia provided temporary protection to 19,000 citizens of Ukraine during Russia’s military aggression," Hakobyan said.

She also said Ukraine needs partner assistance in confronting challenges after hostile shelling of critical infrastructure.

Another security challenge, as the Deputy Minister emphasized, is related to the demining of the de-occupied territories.

As noted in the Interior Ministry’s statement, the ambassador assured of the readiness of the Croatian side to assist Ukraine in the processes of humanitarian demining of the liberated territories by providing specialized mechanical demining machines and other pyrotechnic equipment for the State Emergency Service.

"For this purpose, the Croatian side plans to allocate almost EUR 3 million for the purchase of demining machines for Ukraine’s needs," the ministry said in the statement.
