Ukraine sends 25,000 tonnes of grain to Libya

KYIV. Dec 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The ports of Big Odesa shipped 221,000 tonnes of agricultural products as part of the Grain Initiative on Thursday, the Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine has said.

"Today, a caravan of five ships left the ports of Big Odesa, which will deliver 221,000 tonnes of foodstuffs to the countries of Africa, Asia and Europe. In particular, the Sea Bridle bulk carrier with 25,000 tonnes of agricultural products for Libya," the ministry said.

According to it, Ukraine has sent twelve vessels with 305,000 tonnes foodstuffs to this African country since the launch of the grain corridor.

Twenty-nine vessels are being processed in the ports involved in the Grain Initiative, the ministry said. They are loaded with 1 million tonnes of Ukrainian foodstuffs.

Also, two vessels are moving along the grain corridor to load 89,000 tonnes of foodstuffs.

Ninety-two vessels are waiting for inspection by the Joint Coordination Center (JCC) in the Bosporus Strait. Seven vessels received approval for further movement after inspection in the past 24 hours.

According to the ministry, uninterrupted movement through the grain corridor requires at least twelve inspections per day.

Since August 1, a total of 574 vessels left Big Odesa ports to export 14.6 million tonnes of Ukrainian foodstuffs to Asia, Europe and Africa.
