Stefanchuk confident Rada to adopt bill on religious organization that threatens Ukraine's security

KYIV. Dec 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk is convinced that the Verkhovna Rada will soon adopt a bill on a religious organization that poses a threat to Ukraine’s national security.

"There is a decision of the National Security and Defense Council. The Cabinet of Ministers has been tasked with drafting a bill in the near future, which will be unanimously, I am sure, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine: what should we do next with any religious organization that poses a national threat to the security of Ukraine, and we will adopt it. I think that we will make this bill, we will submit it to the Rada and vote in the near future," Stefanchuk said on the air of the national telethon on Friday.

He stressed that at present everyone is ready for radical decisions that relate to Ukraine’s security issues.

"According to the Constitution, the state is separated from religion in our country, but this does not mean that anyone can threaten Ukraine’s national security under the guise of religion," the speaker noted.

As reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine instructed the government to submit to the Verkhovna Rada a bill on the impossibility of activities in Ukraine of religious organizations affiliated with centers of influence in Russia.
