Significant electricity deficit remains in power system, controlled emergency outages in Kyiv – Ukrenergo

KYIV. Dec 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – As of 11:00 Saturday, Ukraine’s power system is still experiencing a significant shortage of electricity, consumption limits have been set for all regions, exceeding which leads to the application of emergency restrictions.

"The most difficult situation is in Kyiv and Kyiv region due to the consequences of the drone attack on December 19 and in the east and south – there Russia launched new artillery strikes on the frontline areas, there are damages to energy infrastructure facilities," the system operator said.

Ukrenergo clarified that one of the power plants stopped generating due to shelling and equipment damage. Also, certain restrictions continue to apply in the power transmission system caused by damage to the backbone grids by Russian attacks.

As reported, DTEK earlier announced the suspension of the operation of one of its thermal power plants due to shelling and the death of one worker.
