MPs propose to oblige candidates for ambassadorial positions to be interviewed by Rada Committee on Foreign Affairs

KYIV. Dec 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A group of MPs from the European Solidarity faction are proposing to the Verkhovna Rada to improve the procedure for appointing to the positions of the diplomatic service in Ukraine.

Relevant bill No. 8314 was registered in parliament on Wednesday, but its text is currently not available on the parliament’s website.

At the same time, Iryna Heraschenko, co-chair of the European Solidarity faction, said on her Facebook page the bill provides for obliging candidates for the positions of Ukrainian ambassadors to be interviewed by the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation, "as it was during the time of President Yushchenko (traitor Yanukovych, who tried to usurp power, canceled it)".

According to her, this need lies in the fact that the position of the relevant committee in relation to ambassadors should be advisory in their appointment for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the President’s Office.

"Personnel diplomatic decisions must comply with the rule of three Ps [in Ukrainian], derived by the patriarch of Ukrainian diplomacy Udovenko: Professionalism. Integrity. Patriotism," the parliamentarian said.
