Zelensky thanks Scholz for increased support for Ukraine in fight against aggressor

KYIV. Dec 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky thanked German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for the significantly increased support for Ukraine in 2022 in the fight against the Russian aggressor.

"Weapons, refuge for more than a million Ukrainians, Ukrainian-centric G7 presidency, financial and technical assistance, EU candidate status. Thank you for "zeitenwende," Mr. Chancellor. In 2023, we must complete it with our common victory," Zelensky said on Twitter.

The German policy "zeitenwende" means "tipping point" or "change of era" – a policy in which support for Ukraine has increased significantly.

As reported in the media, Germany exported record volumes of weapons worth about EUR8.35 billion in 2022. More than a quarter of this amount was intended for Ukraine.
