Zelensky thanks Czech Republic for supporting Ukraine on way of EU membership, welcomes Sweden with start of EU Council Presidency

KYIV. Jan 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala and the Czech government for supporting Ukraine on the path to EU membership during the presidency of the EU Council.

"Congratulations to Swedish PM on the start of Sweden 2023 EU. I wish successful implementation of the priorities of the Presidency! We’re expecting further practical steps on the path of Ukraine’s integration into the EU. United with Ukraine!" he said on Twitter on Sunday night.

In addition, the President of Ukraine welcomed the Czech government from the beginning of the presidency of the Council of the European Union.

"Grateful to friendly Czechia and Prime Minister Petr Fiala for supporting Ukraine on the way to EU membership. We appreciate the preservation of EU unity and unchanging solidarity with Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression. Together we will win! Stand with Ukraine," Zelensky said on Twitter.

Earlier it was reported that Sweden replaced the Czech Republic as the country presiding over the EU Council.
