Shmyhal: After our victory, Ukraine should switch to strong contract army

KYIV. Jan 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal says that after the victory, Ukraine should switch to a system of a strong contract army.

"The next NATO summit will be held in Vilnius in July. We are already preparing for it now. We are trying to secure Ukraine’s place in the transatlantic security system," Shmyhal said at a government meeting on Tuesday.

The prime minister said the Ukrainian army is moving to NATO standards right on the battlefield, in particular, it is already using the principles of strategic planning, education, training of personnel and units.

"After our victory, we must move to a strong contract army and at the same time provide everyone with the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills that will help in protecting the country if the enemy attacks again," he said.
