Earthquake measuring 3.8 on Richter scale registered in Zakarpattia region

KYIV. Jan 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Main Center for Special Control registered an earthquake in Zakarpattia region near the town of Irshava at 15:28 Kyiv time, at a depth of 6 kilometers with a magnitude of 3.8 on the Richter scale.

The center said on its Facebook page on Tuesday that an earthquake of this magnitude is felt inside a building by many people, outdoors by a few. People are waking up, but no one is scared. The vibrations are similar to the shock generated by a heavily loaded car. Trembling of windows, doors, dishes. Creaking floors and walls. The furniture starting to shake. Hanging objects loosen easily; liquid fluctuates slightly. In cars standing still, the push is noticeable.

On the territory of Zakarpattia region, the most powerful earthquakes were recorded on January 23, 2020 and October 27, 2021 with magnitudes of 3.0 and 3.1, respectively.
