Presence of Western-made parts in Iranian drones revealed after first attacks – Ihnat

KYIV. Jan 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The presence of Western-made parts in Iranian drones became known after the first attacks by Russia in September, Colonel Yuriy Ihnat, spokesman for the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said.

"It was known, yes, that the United States, I mean the enterprises, are the manufacturers of these spare parts for those drones that were captured in September. That is, they were shot down or landed on tree branches themselves. They were investigated immediately back in September, and already now there are certain conclusions that Iran really received them," he said on the air of the telethon on Thursday morning.

The speaker noted that Ukraine would quickly publish the data, but Western countries were very cautious about this, because "we need a legal framework where all this needs to fit."

Ihnat added that Iran, of course, would try by all means to avoid increased sanctions and deny the provision of drones to the Russian Federation.

"Perhaps Russia will open a fake factory of these Iranian drones, which will supposedly be produced on its territory," he said.

According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since September 13, Ukraine has shot down more than 540 Iranian Shahed 136/131 drones, which the Russians label as Geran 1 and Geran 2.
