PMC 'Wagner' starts to recruit political prisoners from Chechnya – Ukrainian intelligence

KYIV. Jan 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Representatives of the Russian PMC "Wagner" began to recruit prisoners from penitentiary institutions of Russia’s Chechen Republic, most of who were convicted for political reasons, the Main Intelligence Agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports, citing military intelligence data.

"It is known that in colony-settlement No. 3 of the city of Argun [the Chechen Republic of the Russian Federation], as well as in penitentiary colony No. 2 of the village of Chernokozovo [Naursky district of the Chechen Republic], the process of recruiting prisoners into the ranks of the ‘Wagner’ PMC continues. The phenomenon is beginning to acquire a mass character. Thus, more than 50 prisoners were ‘mobilized’ from both colonies, most of who were convicted on trumped-up cases," the message on the Telegram channel says.

It is noted that work is now being carried out with the employees of the colonies to prevent information leakage.
