Occupiers inflict eight air strikes, ten shelling attacks from MLRS on Ukraine in past 24 hours – AFU General Staff

KYIV. Jan 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Russian occupation forces inflicted eight air strikes and more than ten shelling attacks using multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) on the territory of Ukraine in the past 24 hours, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) has said on Facebook, in the updates on the Russian invasion of Ukraine as of 18:00 on Thursday.

"The Russian invaders focus their main efforts on attempts to fully occupy Donetsk region within its administrative borders. They conduct an offensive in Bakhmut and Lyman directions. The enemy is trying to improve its tactical positions in Kupiansk and Avdiyivka directions, but does not succeed. It defends in Novopavlivsky, Zaporizhia, and Kherson directions," it said.

There are n significant changes in Volyn, Polissia, Siversky, and Slobozhansky directions.

The occupiers shelled settlements in Slobozhansky, Lyman, Bakhmut, Novopavlivsky, and Zaporizhia directions.

"The enemy does not cease to terrorize the civilian population in Kherson region. The civilian infrastructure and civilians in Chornobayivka and Kherson suffered from artillery shelling," the General Staff said.

The threat of air and missile attacks on the critical infrastructure remains all over the territory of Ukraine.
