Poroshenko: Lavra should be spiritual center of Ukrainian Church, not center of pseudo-religious structure of aggressor country

KYIV. Jan 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Leader of the European Solidarity Party, MP of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko welcomed the news about the first service of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine in Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra on Christmas Day on January 7, according to the political force’s website on Thursday.

"I greet the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, all Orthodox compatriots and all Ukrainian patriots with the first service in Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, scheduled for January 7… This good news caught me on my way to the Phanar, where on the anniversary of receiving the Tomos I will once again thank His All-Holiness for supporting Ukraine and our Church," Poroshenko said on Facebook.

"Lavra is our national shrine, which should be the spiritual center of the Ukrainian Church, and not the provincial center of the pseudo-religious structure of the aggressor country. It will be so. Soon," the politician said.
