Erdogan, in talk with Zelensky, announces his readiness to mediate for long-term peace in Ukraine

KYIV. Jan 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday, during which he announced his readiness to mediate in order to achieve a long-term peace between Russia and Ukraine.

According to the Communications Department of the Republic of Turkey, the leaders of the countries discussed the assistance provided by Turkey to Ukraine in matters of humanitarian assistance, energy issues, as well as the "grain corridor."

Erdogan stressed the ongoing efforts to organize the exchange of prisoners, and also noted Turkey’s readiness for a diplomatic contribution due to the situation around Zaporizhia nuclear power plant.
