By KYIV. Jan 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – On Friday, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had a phone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz.
"I had a phone talk with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. I thanked for the powerful defense package, including several dozen Marder vehicles and the Patriot system. We discussed further cooperation to strengthen the Ukrainian army," Zelensky said on Twitter.
As reported, on the evening of January 5, Scholz, following a conversation with U.S. President Joe Biden, announced Germany’s intention to join the United States in supplying Ukraine with an additional Patriot air defense battery. In addition, Germany announced the transfer of Marder infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine.
