USA begins combat training of Ukrainian military in Germany – media

WASHINGTON. Jan 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Extended combat training by the U.S. armed forces of the military of Ukraine began in Germany on Sunday, the Associated Press reports, citing the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley.

According to him, about 500 servicemen who left Ukraine a few days ago will be trained.

It is noted that Milley plans to visit the training ground in Grafenwöhr (Federal State of Bavaria) on Monday and personally get acquainted with the training program.

So far, the Pentagon has declined to say exactly when the training will begin.

The United States has already trained more than 3,100 Ukrainian troops on how to use and maintain certain weapons and equipment, including howitzers, armored vehicles and a highly mobile artillery missile system known as HIMARS.

Other countries also provide training on how to handle weapons supplied to Kyiv.
