KYIV. May 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held talks with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and Deputy President of the European Commission, Commissioner for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis. The parties discussed further cooperation on Ukraine’s path to EU membership and the readiness of the EU to provide significant financial support.
"Had a friendly, meaningful conversation with Ursula von der Leyen. Grateful for leadership in supporting Ukraine. Discussed cooperation in the defense and financial sectors. As well as interaction on Ukraine’s path to EU membership," Shmyhal said on Twitter on Saturday evening.
In a conversation with Dombrovskis, the head of the Ukrainian government briefed him on the economic damage from military operations on the territory of Ukraine.
"I held talks with Valdis Dombrovskis. I informed about the economic consequences of the war. We agreed on further strong cooperation on Ukraine’s path to EU membership. We appreciate the readiness of the EU to provide significant financial support to Ukraine," Shmyhal wrote.
