KYIV. May 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A powerful interstate transmission line, upgraded by NPC Ukrenergo together with the Polish transmission system operator PSE, between Poland and Ukraine has successfully passed a three-day test since April 27, Ukrenergo reported.
According to Ukrenergo, the total cost of the project amounted to UAH 350 million, in addition, about 1,000 tonnes of the necessary equipment was provided free of charge by Polish partners.
The company explained that the bulk of the work was carried out at this node so that the electricity produced by the Ukrainian energy system could be converted into a European voltage of 400 kV and transferred to Europe.
“It was a complex but mutually beneficial project that we implemented in cooperation with our European colleagues. It is important both for Ukraine and for the energy security of Europe,” Volodymyr Kudrytsky, Chairman of the Board of Ukrenergo, is quoted on the company’s Telegram channel on Tuesday.
According to him, the line will strengthen the links between the Ukrainian and European energy systems, constituting an additional element of European energy security and contributing to the development of a stable energy grid in Ukraine.
“If the needs are different, we will be able to import electricity from Europe,” Kudrytsky said.
The company added that the total length of the line is almost 400 km, more than 70% of which passes through the territory of Ukraine. The line is connected to the main grid through an open switchgear at one of the Ukrainian energy facilities. During the war, 125 specialists worked on the construction of the facility from Ukraine for five months – 45 employees of Ukrenergo and 80 contractors.
At the same time, the Polish operator PSE on its auction platform on Tuesday announced a one-sided monthly auction for the distribution of the available cross-sectional capacity on the Rzeszow-Khmelnytsky NPP line for the delivery period of May 15-31.
