KYIV. May 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Joint Coordination Centre (JCC) reported that the total exports of grain and foodstuffs under the Initiative were over 29 million tonnes.
“As of today (May 8), the total exports of grain and foodstuffs under the Initiative were 29,798,277 metric tonnes… Exports by month: March 2023 – 3,933,607 tonnes, April 2023 2,785,455 tonnes (29% less than in March), May 2023 (to date) 581,218 tonnes,” the JCC said in a statement.
According to the JCC, Since 1 May, the JCC inspection rate has dropped significantly to an average of 2.9 completed inspections daily.
“There are currently 14 vessels in the Ukrainian ports loading approximately 600,000 metric tonnes of grain and foodstuffs… There are currently 26 vessels in Turkish waters loaded with 1,157,974 metric tonnes of grain and foodstuffs… There are 62 vessels waiting to move to Ukrainian ports,” the JSC said.
Since signing the grain deal, 595,169 metric tonnes of grain were shipped by vessels chartered by the World Food Programme in support of its humanitarian operations in Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, and Yemen.
DENIZ M, a vessel chartered by the UN’s World Food Programme, is heading to Odesa and plans to load 30,000 metric tonnes of wheat for the humanitarian operation in Ethiopia.
As reported, the further Black Sea Grain Initiative’s fate will be known from the results of bilateral and multilateral meetings of Ukraine with the UN, the Russian Federation, and Türkiye, which will be held on May 10 and May 11 in Istanbul.
