KYIV. May 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Italy is ready to support the further intensification of Ukraine’s partnership with NATO and help in the process of integration into the EU and reforms, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has said.
“We also want to strengthen Ukraine’s partnership with NATO. We will talk about this at the Vilnius summit in July. This will be the main topic of the meeting,” she said at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday in Rome.
In addition, she stressed that Italy supports the path of Ukraine’s accession to the EU and will help Ukrainians in the process of integration and reforms.
“In Ukraine, there is now a struggle to protect European values. And these are the values of all our citizens, which is why we have taken an active position in supporting granting Ukraine the status of a candidate member of the EU,” she said.
Meloni also noted that Italy provides full support for the implementation of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, which is necessary for global food security.
