About 70 Ukrainian cultural institutions receive assistance from EU – Ministry of Culture

KYIV. Nov 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – About 70 Ukrainian cultural institutions have received humanitarian assistance that included packaging materials and protective equipment from European countries, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine has reported.

"The assistance was received within the framework of the activities of the Center to Rescue Cultural Heritage, which operates in cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine," the ministry’s press service said.

Humanitarian aid for Ukrainian cultural institutions was received from 13 institutions of European countries, in particular: Polish museums; Prince Claus Fund (the Netherlands); Ministry of Culture of Estonia; Association CHOICE (Italy); Committee for Assistance to Ukrainian Museums (Poland); Center for Assistance to the Culture of Ukraine, created with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland; ALIPH Foundation (Switzerland); ICOM France; National Museum of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic; Gallery of Fine Arts in Ostrava (GVUO, the Czech Republic); Ministry of Culture of Croatia; Federal Agency for Technical Relief (Germany); German Archaeological Institute.

In addition to material assistance, funds were also received in support of the cultural institutions of Ukraine from foreign organizations and individuals.

There is also a project Fire Extinguishers, with participation of International ICOMOS, Foundation to Preserve Ukraine’s Sacred Arts (FTPUSA), Heritage Emergency Response Initiative (HERI), Center to Rescue Ukrainian Cultural Heritage, within which fire extinguishers were delivered to 200 wooden churches in Ukraine, including eight World Heritage sites.
