KYIV. Dec 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – On average, 14.7% of Ukrainian teenagers said they experienced bullying at least several times in a month, according to the 2022 results of the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA 2022) on Ukraine.
“On average, 14.7% of teenagers in Ukraine said they experienced bullying at least several times in a month, while 7% of students were related to the category of those who regularly suffer bullying,” it is said in the national report on the PISA 2022 results.
According to the report, boys and students with low socio-economic status face different forms of bullying in Ukraine more often than girls.
“In general, the problem of bullying among 15-year-olds in Ukraine is less common in Ukraine than in most referent countries. In addition, as of 2022, we can speak about a significant decrease in the level of bullying as compared to 2018: the difference is 7.6 percentage points,” it said.
According to the survey, bullying most often occurs in the premises of educational facilities, therefore it can be assumed that the reduction in its manifestations in Ukraine can be related to the temporary closure of schools amid the coronavirus pandemic and later due to the war.
The survey was conducted in October 2022 via two-hour tests in math, reading, science and creative thinking. The total number of participants was 3,876 from 164 educational institutions in 17 regions and Kyiv (the study was not conducted in seven regions and temporarily occupied Crimea).
