KYIV. Dec 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih (AMKR, Dnipropetrovsk region) intends to increase the utilization of the enterprise’s production capacity from 30% to 50% in 2024.
“In 2024, we plan to increase production volumes and increase production capacity through the operation of two blast furnaces. Thus, the utilization of our production capacities will increase from 30 to 50 percent,” AMKR General Director Mauro Longobardo said, receiving a delegation from the German Embassy led by Ambassador Martin Jaeger at the plant.
It is clarified that the visit program included a discussion with the plant management of the current state of the enterprise and prospects for its development, as well as a visit to the blast furnace production.
According to Longobardo, the metallurgical plant is ready to increase production volumes as quickly as possible and support Ukraine in its post-war reconstruction. To achieve this, the company retained its staff, avoided layoffs, and all production equipment is in working order, despite power outages and even missile attacks.
“We are also steadily moving along the path of transformation into a company that is consistently reducing its impact on the environment. Several steps in this direction have already been taken, for example, the closure of outdated facilities: coke oven batteries No. 1-2, sinter plant for metallurgical production, as well as the commissioning of such modern production facilities such as coke oven batteries No. 5-6,” the general director emphasized.
In turn, Jaeger, discussing the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, noted that “when the time comes for post-war reconstruction, it is important not to return the object to its pre-war state, but to bring it to a modern level.”
“We must build the best. Moreover, Ukraine will be a member of the European Union. I am confident that all this can be achieved, and ArcelorMittal will play an important and indicative role in this process,” the German ambassador concluded.
