As result of hostile shelling of residential areas of Kherson on Friday, one killed, three wounded – prosecutor's office

KYIV. Dec 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – As a result of enemy shelling of residential areas of Kherson on Friday morning, a fire broke out in a multi-storey building, one person killed, three were injured, the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) has said.

"In the early morning of December 16, the Russian military once again fired at residential areas in Kherson. As a result of the shelling, several apartments in a multi-storey building ignited. After the fire was extinguished, a dead person was found in one of the apartments," the PGO said in a Telegram channel on Friday.

According to the prosecutor’s office, three more residents received medical assistance due to poisoning by combustion products, injuries and burns of varying degrees.

Under the procedural leadership of Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a pretrial investigation was launched into a violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder (part 2 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

In order to ensure a proper investigation of war crimes, prosecutors, together with police investigators, carry out the necessary investigative actions.
