KYIV. Nov 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Belgium has transferred a grant of EUR 4.96 million for Ukraine to IMF’s Administered Account for Ukraine, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva has said.
"It’s great to see the international community continuing to come together to help stabilize the Ukrainian economy," Georgieva said on Twitter on Thursday, thanking Belgium for its contribution.
The managing director of the IMF previously told Interfax-Ukraine that the IMF is currently in negotiations with Ukraine, but until there is certainty with the monetary program, it proposes to support a country that needs significant amounts of financing through this specially created account.
"We have the IMF’s Administered Account, through which funds can be directed for such payments to Ukraine. At the moment, we have paid $2.2 billion from this IMF’s Administered Account," she said on October 25.
The IMF in 2022 sent $2.7 billion in emergency funding directly to Ukraine.
