KYIV. Nov 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed hope that the U.S. Congress will approve the request of U.S. President Joe Biden to allocate additional funds, in particular, to help Ukraine.
“The supplemental budget request made by the president demonstrates our commitment to this goal, and we expect Congress to approve it in the coming weeks,” Blinken said at a press conference on Wednesday in Brussels.
Earlier in October, U.S. President Joe Biden sent to Congress a request for financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $61.4 billion for a year, as well as $14.3 billion to strengthen Israel’s defense. In addition, Biden has requested $13.6 billion to secure the U.S.-Mexico border and $7.4 billion for other national security priorities. In total, the U.S. President asked Congress for approval for additional funding in the amount of $106.7 billion.
